WMST PCHS approved by DC Public Charter School Board for full continuance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 1, 2009) – Washington Mathematics Science Technology Public Charter High School, a leading charter school in the nation’s capital, received a vote for full continuance by the D.C. Public Charter School board during its monthly February 23 meeting. The DCPCSB meeting was a key part of WMST PCHS’ receiving a five-year continuance of its charter.

Board members congratulated the WMST PCHS leaders for sustaining a high-performing school, with high student attendance, rigorous math, science and technology programs, numerous advanced placement courses, and a 99.9 percent college acceptance rate. The school which opened in 1998, under went its second five-year charter review and was granted full continuance for another five years.

“The D.C. Public Charter School Board’s vote for full continuance is a testimony to the hard work that our teachers and staff put in every day,” said Mark Holbrook, head of school at WMST PCHS. “Our students and parents reap the benefits of our school.”
